I went in to have three items altered — a suit jacket, a pair of trousers, and a long-sleeve top. I explained clearly what I wanted and the tailor took my measurements in the shop. The women with the pathetic small tattoos on her forearm and the tailor assured me the alterations would be ready in two days. When they took my measurements, they stated it was a hard job to do which I have never heard before as I have had similar clothing altered before without any problems by other dry cleaners.
I did say if they could not do the job I was happy enough to go elsewhere but both of them was certain they could complete the alterations.
When I picked up the items, I was charged about £83, which I felt was quite high but acceptable if the work was done properly. Unfortunately when I got home I found that only the jacket seemed to have been altered; the trousers and top appeared untouched to my disappointment
I returned to the shop to discuss this, but the women insisted I had given the wrong measurements — which wasn’t possible since they had taken the measurements themselves. The conversation became tense, and communication was difficult. I was told I would have to pay again for the alterations, which I felt was unreasonable given that the original work had not been done.
After a long discussion with the tailor on the phone and who I believe to be the owner on two different phone calls with the woman in the shop and only after mentioning my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the shop agreed to provide a partial refund. I later took the unaltered items to another dry cleaner, who confirmed that no alterations had been carried out.
Overall this experience was extremely disappointing and stressful. I would not recommend this dry cleaner based on poor workmanship, unprofessional communication, and unwillingness to take responsibility for unsatisfactory service. I was in the shop for about 30 minutes trying to resolve this problem which is unacceptable and shocking.
I was nothing but polite to the woman and try to resolve this matter but after being kept in the shop for such a lengthy time sadly I have had to result to now leaving a negative review so other potential customers do not have the same problem
